Our Founder

Stephen Sumrall founded Provident Ministries, Feeding The Nations, Sumrall Ministries, and Christ Chapel Church in 2005.

Throughout his life, he achieved national and international recognition as a humanitarian, leader, and pastor. Under his leadership, Feeding The Nations delivered relief to the hungry and hurting in more than 75 nations, feeding thousands. He had a heart of compassion for the lost and hurting people of our world.

As a result of his strong leadership and determined commitment to minister the love of Jesus Christ—and to bring tangible help and assistance to those in need around the world—millions of pounds of relief supplies have been distributed. These supplies were not confiscated or delayed by bureaucratic red tape. By the grace of God, they were placed directly into the hands of those who needed them most.

Steve went home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2026, and heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” He fought the good fight and finished his race. He served the Lord faithfully and remained steadfast in his calling. He loved God, and he loved people. His desire was to make Jesus known and to help as many people as possible.

He was determined to remain faithful to the call—the mandate the Lord gave us in His Word: “Go into all the world.” He would often say, “All means all. And it’s not a suggestion—it’s a mandate.” He believed we are all called to bring the Good News of the Gospel to a lost and dying world.

Speaking of Feeding The Nations, Steve said, “My dad, Lester Sumrall, felt led by the Lord to help those in desperate need with food and the hope of the Gospel. It was to be ‘pastor to pastor, church to church.’ From God’s people here to God’s people there, on the ground, and to the best of our ability, we have followed the same pattern. There have been many challenges, but by God’s grace and the generosity of believers, many have been helped over the years. And by God’s grace, we know countless more will continue to be helped.
