A Light Shines in the Amazon Rainforest: The Word in Action

FTN sponsored a team of nine from Christ Chapel, South Bend, as they spent 10 days in Iquitas, Peru, teaching at Instituto Biblico de Viva Abunte, visited six churches, a school and the city dump. During their journeys, they purchased 8,800 pounds of rice, provided for the church and pastor's home to be re-roofed, distributed food to 2,600 people, and shared God's word along the way.

The team visited four different churches and took part in six services with the aid of a translator. They also ministered to the children through puppet shows and gave the children sock puppets to keep that were made by volunteers in Indiana.

Classes were taught to thirty-five future pastors. The good news of the gospel was shared through drama and songs, inviting more than 700 public school children to know Christ.   A youth meeting was held Saturday evening for a total of thirteen meetings
during their stay.

The team made a special trip to the city garbage dump to distribute rice to more than 150 people whose homes are tents.  The group shared testimonies, sung, preached and presented a puppet play to the children.

As the group traveled from meeting to meeting, people committed their lives to Christ and were baptized in the Holy Spirit.  Because of those who generously donated and made this trip possible, the people of Iquitas who live in such horrible conditions received hope both physically and spiritually.

2005 YEAR IN REVIEW
In August, FTN partnered with Abundant Life Ministries.  The fruit from this outreach was planting new churches, hundreds of salvations, pastors' training, and rice distribution in many villages.
