Local Community Support Day

Feeding The Nations held an inner city outreach on Saturday, June 3rd between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 P.M. at Alonzo Watson Park located at Western Avenue and Chapin Street.

Several churches within the South Bend community worked together with Feeding The Nations to distribute 500 family food boxes to help reach those in need in the local area.

Each family received 50 pounds of non-perishable foods and various personal care items. Local pastors identified needy families within the community and provided coupons for the family boxes prior to the event. Volunteers from the area churches were on the grounds to assist the families.

A special message was delivered by the founder and president of Feeding The Nations and senior pastor of Christ Chapel, Stephen Sumrall. The dynamic, contemporary youth dance and mime groups, Triple G and GOP, presented a special performance. Both energetic groups have a vision to help inspire and encourage the youth of our city.

A special thank you goes to Pastor Phil and Fran Mortensen of the Love Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana and all the sixty volunteers from South Bend and Fort Wayne who worked very hard putting together 500 family food boxes.

In addition we would like to thank all the volunteers from the various participating churches in South Bend who assisted in the park to help the people receive and carry the food to wherever needed.
