Stirred to Action: Feeding The Nations Helps Quake-Stricken China

On May 12, China experienced a sudden and devastating 7.9 earthquake. With a force equal to 400 nuclear bombs, 87 million people have been affected, more than 67,000 have lost their lives and tens of thousands are now homeless. Feeding The Nations has stepped into action to help relieve suffering by providing $31,220 USD worth of food, water, blankets, tents and medical supplies to those in need of hope during a time of darkness.

With little notice, an earthquake struck China on May 12 and registered 7.9 on the Richter scale - equal to 400 nuclear bombs. It brought absolute devastation, destroying over 3.5 million homes and leaving tens of thousands stranded. Estimates report that over 87 million have been affected, more than 67,000 are dead, over 362,000 are injured and close to 25,000 are missing, with numbers continuing to rise. But as the clean up continues, new concerns arise as contaminated water and other unsanitary conditions leave survivors at risk of contracting typhoid, diarrhea and hepatitis.

Feeding The Nations (FTN) and World Children's Fund have joined forces to immediately reach survivors with life-saving aid. FTN, through its Finnish office, sent $31,220 USD to provide food, water, blankets, tents and medical supplies for those affected.

The World Children's Fund is on the ground now distributing FTN's supplies. The organization reported, "Helpless and dying children were made orphans in mere seconds as parents perished in the crushing quake rubble. After being rescued out of the claws of twisted metal and concrete - tens of thousands of children now face possible death in the even more threatening and dangerous quake aftermath. The quake destruction was massive, with whole mountainsides sheared off, highways ripped apart and building after building leveled."

If your heart has been stirred to assist this hurting people, to help provide them with nourishment, shelter, hope and care, please prayerfully consider joining our effort and donate here.
