2007 GREENSBURG OUTREACH

Town center, twelve days after the tornado struck.

Town center, twelve days after the tornado struck.

UPDATE:  On May 4, 2007 Greensburg was devastated by an F-5 tornado that traveled quickly through the area, killing ten people. The mile wide twister with winds of 205 mph leveled 95% of this town whose population was 1,452. 400 FEMA trailers have been set up to help the families while they endeavor to rebuild their town and their lives. According to the governor the National Guard were the first responders but unfortunately lack the necessary equipment, slowing the recovery process.
Pastor Danny Mangus, a member of the
Provident Network, will direct a team from his ministry, Many Waters International Outreach of Richmond, Indiana, to assist in distributing food and supplies to help 400 families effected by the tornado.
On September 19, 2007 Feeding The Nations sent a semi-truck laden with 38,495
pounds of assorted foods to add to the food collected in Richmond, Indiana. This load included several different types of soups like vegetable, chicken & wild rice, Italian wedding, chicken & stars, cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soups, cookies, breakfast bars, high-quality vitamin supplements, and soap worth over $55,735. The outreach will take place September 21-23 with Pastor Krista Zapfe of the  Assemblies of God Lighthouse Worship Center whose church was destroyed as a result of the tornado.
