September 2011 | Feeding The Nations sends 557,000 meals to Afghanistan via military aircraft

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Feeding The Nations (FTN) sent 85,000 pounds of food to Afghanistan thanks to the help of the U.S. Air Force. The food arrived on September 8 and is ready to distribute. FTN first sent 60,000 meals in April and now they have provided an additional 557,000 meals to the nation. The organization has used the Denton Program to move cargo via military aircraft. Special operations teams then deliver the meals, to orphanages, hospitals, schools and several internally displaced people (IDP) camps.


March 2011 | Feeding The Nations prepares to send multiple water purifiers to aid in Japan's recovery

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - SOUTH BEND, Ind. –Feeding The Nations (FTN) has begun mobilizing relief efforts to reach Japan after a devastating 8.9 earthquake and subsequent tsunami hit the island nation March 11, 2011. Phase 1 of FTN’s support includes sending Air Mobile Rescuer water purification systems to help provide clean water during the recovery efforts. Each system costs $2,000 providing up to 600 gallons of clean water per day and enough drinking water for 500 people per day – much-needed assistance as water sources have been contaminated due to toxic waste, debris and dead bodies. Joe Hurston, Air Mobile Ministries president, is en route to Japan with eight systems and the goal of putting in place 40 systems. The team is assessing the situation and is developing an effective plan to disperse the purifiers and train the people on the proper use of them.


January 2011 | One Year Post-Quake, Feeding The Nations Continues Aid to Haiti

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A year after the devastating 7.0 earthquake hit Haiti, Feeding The Nations (FTN), South Bend, Ind., continues to reach the nation with food and support. FTN recently shipped 271,000 meals to the quake-stricken country, bringing its total assistance to 4.5 million meals, along with water purification systems, tents, medical/hygiene supplies and planting seed.


August 2010 | Feeding The Nations Preparing First Response to 100 Pakistani Families

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Feeding The Nations (FTN), South Bend, Ind., is preparing to send aid to flood-ravaged Pakistan even though roads have yet to be opened to reach the people in need. The relief project will help 30 villages that have been wiped out by the floods in rural areas of the Narowal district. Initially one hundred families with a total of 600 members will receive the aid. The families will receive financial and material help, and encouragement to help rehabilitate them and revive their lives and livelihoods. A second response is being prepared with additional families under consideration.


April 2010 | Haiti Receives Abundance of Seed Corn from Local Agency

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A local non-profit, Feeding The Nations (FTN), continues its efforts to aid Haiti as the nation rebuilds following the destructive earthquake that struck earlier this year. FTN has shipped 640-55-pound bags of yellow seed corn, amounting to 35,200 pounds of planting seed that has the potential to yield 8.4 million pounds of corn. This brings the total amount that FTN has sent to Haiti earthquake relief to 600,000 pounds (300 tons) of much needed food, tents, water purification systems and now seed corn.


April 2010 | High Schoolers Give Two Days, Feed 5,000

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A local non-profit, Feeding The Nations (FTN), will be shipping over 285,000 meals to Zambia thanks to the efforts of Fox Valley Lutheran High School, Appleton, Wis. On April 22 and 23, the students will be packaging 42,000 pounds of high-quality rice, vegetable and chicken flavor meals that are fortified with vitamins and minerals. FTN will then send the meals to Zambia to continue its support of 17 Christian orphanages and schools, feeding 5,000 needy children each day.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A local non-profit, Feeding The Nations (FTN), has mobilized 2.5 million meals, five water purifications systems and 50 family tents to send to the earthquake-stricken Haiti. Many supplies have arrived and over 400,000 pounds are scheduled to be on their way within days.

January 2010 | Local Agency Plans Immediate Response to Quake-Stricken Haiti

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A local non-profit, Feeding The Nations (FTN), has teamed with aid organizations in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and Santiago, Dominican Republic, to send immediate assistance to Haiti. A 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit the island nation Tuesday, January 12, nearly destroying its capital Port-au-Prince and affecting a third of its entire population. This latest disaster comes just months after four powerful storms ripped through Haiti, destroying vital crops and livelihoods.


October 2009 | Local Agency to Rain-Down Support on Typhoon-Stricken Philippines

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A local non-profit, Feeding The Nations (FTN), prepares to send over 120,000 pounds of food and relief to the Philippines after two typhoons in just a few weeks' time hit the island nation. The country has received record rainfalls of nearly 18 inches in just 24 hours. In fact, 80% of the nation's capital of Manila has been submerged after receiving a month's worth of rain in just 12 hours. Houses and entire neighborhoods have been swept away, and reports estimate that over 3 million Filipinos have been affected and 700 people dead. With so much rain the agricultural loses are expected to reach an estimated $400 million, greatly impacting the food prices.


June 2009 | Local Organization Reaches 13 Million Meals Milestone

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Feeding The Nations (FTN) has now supplied the lost and hurting with over 13 million meals in 17 nations thanks to its partnerships with Feed My Starving Children and Kids Against Hunger. That total number of meals would feed the entire population of South Bend 123 times for four months, one meal per day.


May 2009 | Local Organization Assists First-of-its-Kind African Mother/Baby Hospital

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Feeding The Nations (FTN) worked with Indiana University School of Medicine and Moi University School of Medicine, in Eldoret, Kenya, to provide thousands of pounds of vitamins for distribution at the new Riley Mother Baby Hospital in Eldoret—the only of its kind in East Africa. In 2008 FTN sent 17,107 pounds of pre-natal vitamins valued at $250,483 to 18 medical clinics located in rural areas of Kenya. The organization now prepares to send nearly one million children's multi-vitamins, worth $80,128. The vitamins are essential to supplement the increased nutritional needs of the mothers and children, many of whom are battling HIV/AIDS.


February 2009 | Cholera Flourishes in Zimbabwe, Prompts Local Response

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Stricken by a cholera outbreak, Zimbabwe struggles to find medical support and nourishment for its people. In response, Feeding The Nations (FTN) prepares to send $230,000 worth of aid. Three 40-ft. containers with 65 tons of food and vitamins are being shipped to help fight this horrific crisis. The relief will bring 650,000 meals to those in need in Zimbabwe.
